"A RABBI FINDS HIS MESSIAH"? ACTUALLY, NO...

Michael Esses was, at the time this book was ghost-written for him by his former wife in 1973, "An extremely popular Old Testament teacher and scholar ... Dean of the Melodyland School of the Bible and Professor of Biblical Hebrew in the Melodyland School of Theology." He claimed to be a former rabbi, who converted to Christianity.

Unfortunately, his story was all a LIE---see his former wife's expose, Survivor of a Tarnished Ministry. But in the meantime, he fooled a lot of well-meaning Christians (including famous ones like Walter Martin, Ralph Wilkerson, and Pat Boone).

Nevertheless, for what it's worth, here are some quotations from the book:

"All Israelites are Jews, but not all Jews are Israelites. A Judean Jew is a Jew who is of the tribe of Judah. By oral tradition handed down from father to son in our family, even today we know who we are and what tribe we are from... We Judean Jews have always looked down our noses at our fellow brethren of the people of Israel. We felt we were the aristocrats of the Hebrew people." (Pg. 10-11)
"When I look back at my childhood, it is very painful to me, even now that I am a man. Unconsciously, we all think that a child should be at least reasonably happy, but searching through my memory as hard as I can, I can't come up with even one happy moment." (Pg. 23)
"I take authority granted unto me by the Lord Jesus Christ. I hear myself saying, with a boldness that I don't possess, 'In the name of Jesus Christ, Irvine, I command your spirit to come back to your body.' ... "I reflected upon what it would have been like if I had still been an Orthodox Jew. I would have had to sit on the floor for seven days. Understanding how to trust and believe

I read this book with interest and an appetite to learn about a Jew who fought to convince his Christian wife that he had converted. Being a Christian, I thought it would be completely different. I expected it to be a story where a Jew was missing something in his life and found that conversion to Christianity was the answer. It made sense to me. But as I read, I realized that it is a lot to ask a person of the Jewish faith to simply accept that Jesus was the Son of God and our Redeemer. I do love the way that Michael uses his education in languages and his knowledge of the Bible to fool people and convince them that he has converted. It is amusing and ironic how he can do this and yet learn that God is always there waiting and His Son will always be willing to take on your sins and pay for them. He goes a long way to fight it and in the process learns to trust and to believe in this new to him faith. It is a well written easy read and I think you will enjoy folling Michael Esses through this journey.

A hoax on the Christian community

This is a story that will edify many Christians. And it's got an easy-to-read style.

There's only one thing wrong with it. Much of it is just not true.

Anyone with a bit of knowledge of Jewish life, and some common sense, can spot the more obvious of the falsehoods.

So, fascinating as an example of a hoax, but avoid it if you're looking for spiritual food.

The best parts are the ones from 7000 years ago

The Tao Te Ching translation gives a lot of insight into the mentality that inspired dudeism but honestly I'd skip the rest. The "Dude De Ching" segments are pretty nonsensical unless you've had too many White Russians or smoked one too many jays. as a dudeist priest myself I wish that not everything "original" in this book had to be a quote from the film... Could've toned it down just a hair and given it some real practical and congruent meaning. But that's just like my opinion man...

This is a destructive ethic, consistent with Freud seeing himself as a destroyer. His purpose was to disassociate guilt from sin, making it a problem for science rather than faith. Through this revision Freud hoped to destroy religion. But the removal of Christian religious influence leads only to tyranny as the Christian God is replaced by the dictatorial rule of the scientific elite. Totalitarianism assumes the place of the Triune God as scientific rulers seek control over every facet of life. Freud's therapy was scientific socialism: a syncretism of the scientific and political agendas of modern man. This analysis of one of history's most insidious players will provide insight into the modern rush to abolish Christianity and Biblical thought.

About the Author
Dr. Ron Larson is Professor of Mathematics at Penn State University at Erie. He received his doctorate in mathematics from the University of Colorado in 1970. Starting with Calculus in 1978, Larson has authored or coauthored over 200 mathematics textbooks and media products, including, in 1998, the first mainstream calculus textbook to go online. In 1983, Larson started his own publishing enterprise devoted to producing student-friendly math textbooks from sixth grade through college level calculus. Larson Texts, Inc., now includes a separate division for online mathematics learning materials, TDLC.COM, as well as Big Ideas Learning, LLC, which focuses on middle school math.

The Pennsylvania State Education Agency (PSEA), in their Call for Change document states that: "With increasing social, political, and economic pressures that are placed on public schools, what may have worked in the past is no longer adequate to prepare for the future." From the perspective of appropriate mathematics for informed consumers, this book provides the resource for that change. Another amazing Kingdom Keeper book!

What a great addition to the other Kingdom Keeper books in the series. I love this series! I am an elementary teacher and these books have it all: Adventure, mystery, history, friendship, science, technology, and scary moments that keep you on the edge of your seat. This one was amazing how Pearson wrote from both timelines but yet it seemed seamless and well placed and timed. So glad I ordered it early and got it so quickly! On a side note I love the colors of the cover, hardbound cover (dark blue), and interior end pages in (bright pink) I loved looking at it and couldn't wait to pick it up and read it!

Good, but not great as I had hoped.

I've really enjoyed all of the Kingdom Keepers books with the original series still being my favorite. Disney at Last is a fitting end to the series but I also found it perhaps the most challenging to get through as multiple characters hopping through multiple timelines made things a bit challenging at times. Fun read, but not my favorite.

I have loved this series and looked forward to reading the final book. However, this book left me wanting more. The story line felt chaotic, the ending felt rushed and lots of questions remained. Sad to say, but hugely disappointed in the way this incredible series of books was wrapped up.

Living in New York City as a writer for a popular business magazine is a dream come true for Macy Wallace. Macy was shipped off to rural Georgia to be raised by her feisty Grandmother Delilah. This turns her seven-year-old world upside down. After being betrayed by her parents, Macy finds that it takes hard work and smarts to escape Georgia.

When living in the big city as a writer becomes stagnant, she decides a change is in order. Martin Wallace dies and leaves Macy the property in White Creek Colorado. Macy Manor was Macy’s favorite vacation spot when she was a child. She remembered the hard work that went into maintaining the property located in the middle of nowhere. It was off the grid living. Macy decides that she needs White Creek. Living off the grid could help her to write the great novel locked in her head. After all, it worked for her father. Packing up her belongings, loading up on supplies, and quitting her job she decided to make the thirty plus hour drive to Colorado for a new life.

Nico has his own secrets and a task that could put the kibosh on romance with Macy. Will a dark family secret send Macy running back to the safety of the big city? Can they find love far removed from the fast-paced world?

One day after the start of Macy’s journey to reach White Creek Colorado, the dead begin to walk the earth. Macy is forced to choose between continuing her trek or finding a safe zone. Along the way, she rescues Roger and Mackenzie, teenagers from Nebraska. The trio decides to risk making the trip to White Creek in the hopes that the secluded Macy Manor will serve as their haven. They find that living off the grid comes with a new set of problems. The trio will have to figure out how to make the most out of the available supplies, initially procured for one person, while fighting zombies. Individuals seeking to take Macy Manor from the trio prove that uninfected humans are much more dangerous. It is easy to kill a zombie but will they be able to kill those threatening their safe haven. Nico arrives with supplies and love. His relationship with Martin Wallace, before his death, gave him a personal glimpse into Macy’s life. The love he has for the young woman is only increased after their initial meeting. Can they fight the zombie and human threats to maintain a safe existence? Is it okay to fall in love in a zombie world?

IR & Zombies.. Loved it :)

I never heard of this author before, but loved zombie movies and IR so thought why not read it.... glad I did. 2 stories for the price of one with the same characters involved which I found to be very intriguing.
My favorite of course was the zombie story. Very entertaining and to say the least very different. The author was very detailed in her writing of the tale as it unfolded with all characters and their growth and at times so realistically described you could almost see it graphically unfold like a movie (wished it was a movie).
Anyway, I truly enjoyed both these stories. Thank you and keep up the good work.

I loved the first part of this book which is just a sweet love story , with a touch of drama. But the second Version with the zombie apocalypse thrown in was freaking awesome! For the price I highly recommend this book!.....

Two books in one , a normal romance between a sister and a fine white man and a sci-fi thriller with zombies. Wait for it, a fine man. Works for me! I was entertained and I think that you will be too.
